A note on the selection. Eight of the ten models are branded Core i5 or Core i7. Because our catalogue of in-stock Core i5/i7 laptops is limited, we rounded out the list with two Intel Core Ultra 5 models, the generation that succeeds the Core i5; they are clearly labelled. The ranking follows increasing price order among these ten models.

The 10 Laptops in Detail
1. Asus VivoBook 15 X1502: the most affordable on the list
The Asus VivoBook 15 X1502 pairs a Core i7-13620H processor with 16 GB of memory and a 512 GB SSD behind a 15.6-inch Full HD screen. H-series chips are designed for higher sustained power than the U-series chips found in ultraportables, which benefits heavy multitasking. Key takeaway: excellent performance for the budget, but very few units in stock.
2. Lenovo V15 G4 IRU: the essentials for office work
The Lenovo V15 G4 features a Core i5-1335U, 8 GB of memory and a 256 GB SSD with a 15.6-inch Full HD screen. It is a reasonable choice for email, web browsing and office suites. Key takeaway: 8 GB is enough today but leaves little headroom for the long term; plan on an upgrade if you keep the machine for several years. Good stock is available for bulk purchases.
3. Dell Pro 15 Essential PV15250 (Core i5-1334U)
This Core i5 version of the Dell Pro 15 Essential offers 16 GB of memory and 512 GB of storage, a more comfortable configuration than entry-level models. Key takeaway: a good balance for small businesses equipping several workstations, with a large inventory.
4. Dell Pro 15 Essential PV15250 (Core i7-1355U)
The Core i7 variant adds an i7-1355U processor and a 15.6-inch Full HD display at 120 Hz, smoother for scrolling and browsing. Key takeaway: the 120 Hz screen is its most visible everyday advantage; moving from i5 to i7 mainly improves sustained workloads.
5. Lenovo ThinkPad E16 Gen 3 (Core Ultra 5 225U)
The ThinkPad E16 Gen 3 offers a large 16-inch WUXGA screen, 16 GB of memory and a 256 GB SSD. It is a Core Ultra 5 (the successor to the Core i5). Key takeaway: ideal if you like a large workspace; its high availability makes it a good candidate for team deployments.
6. HP Pro 14-inch (Core Ultra 5 225U)
The HP 14-inch with a Core Ultra 5 225U, 16 GB and 512 GB is more compact than the 15- and 16-inch models on this list, so it is easier to carry. Key takeaway: the best format-to-configuration compromise for mobile professional use; very generous stock.
7. MSI Katana 15 HX B14W: raw power
The MSI Katana 15 HX is the only gaming laptop on the list: Core i7-14650HX, 32 GB of memory, a 1 TB SSD and a 15.6-inch QHD screen at 165 Hz. An HX-series processor aims for maximum power rather than battery life. Key takeaway: the pick for gaming, video editing and 3D work; expect a bulkier and louder machine under load.
8. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11: the ultraportable for travel
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 (Core i7, 16 GB, 512 GB, Windows 11 Pro) is the benchmark for business ultrabooks: light, well built, with a highly regarded keyboard. Key takeaway: for frequent travellers who want a thin device without sacrificing durability.
9. Panasonic Toughbook FZ-55: built for the field
The Toughbook FZ-55 is a 14-inch Full HD semi-rugged laptop with a Core i5-1345U vPro, 16 GB and 512 GB. vPro technology makes remote management easier for managed device fleets. Key takeaway: for job sites, technical services and demanding environments.
10. Panasonic NC/NR MK3 touchscreen
This Panasonic MK3 touchscreen model offers a Core i5-1345U, 16 GB, a 512 GB OPAL-type SSD (hardware encryption), a webcam, USB-C and Windows 11 Pro. Key takeaway: a professional touchscreen tool for organizations that require hardware-encrypted storage. Modest stock quantity.
Core i5 or Core i7: Which Should You Choose?
A Core i5 is enough for the vast majority of uses: browsing, video calls, spreadsheets, cloud-based applications. A Core i7 makes sense when you work with large files, several heavy applications at once, video editing or gaming. But the name doesn't tell the whole story: the processor series matters as much as the number. A U-series chip (such as the i5-1335U or i7-1355U) favours battery life and quiet operation; an H- or HX-series chip (i7-13620H, i7-14650HX) delivers far more sustained power at the cost of higher power consumption. Also think about memory: 16 GB is now a comfortable minimum, and a 512 GB SSD keeps you from running out of space too quickly.
