The Two Laptops with 8 GB RAM and 512 GB Storage

1. Dell Pro 15 Essential PV15255: the least expensive match

The Dell Pro 15 Essential PV15255 pairs an AMD Ryzen 5 7520U with 8 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD behind a 15.6-inch Full HD display that refreshes at 120 Hz, unusually smooth for a laptop in this class. The U-series Ryzen chip is a low-power design aimed at battery life and quiet operation rather than peak speed. Key takeaway: the cheapest way into 8 GB / 512 GB at PcHybrid, with a screen that makes scrolling and browsing feel fluid. Only a small number of units were in stock when we wrote this.

2. Dell Pro 14 Essential PV14255: the compact, well-stocked choice

The Dell Pro 14 Essential PV14255 uses an AMD Ryzen 5 220 with the same 8 GB / 512 GB configuration in a 14-inch Full HD Plus 60 Hz display. It is easier to carry than the 15-inch model. Key takeaway: the better pick if you value portability, or if you are buying several units, since inventory was large when we wrote this.

Two Close Alternatives with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB Storage

If your budget is the priority and you mostly use cloud storage, a 256 GB SSD can be enough. These two models are well stocked and are worth a look.

3. HP OmniBook 3 16 (AMD Ryzen 3): the lowest-cost option on this list

The HP OmniBook 3 16 offers an AMD Ryzen 3 processor, 8 GB of RAM, a 256 GB SSD and a large 16-inch WUXGA screen. Key takeaway: best for email, web, documents and video calls when you want the lowest price and a large screen. Storage is the compromise.

4. Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 6: business build, modest specs

The ThinkPad E14 Gen 6 has a Ryzen 5 7535U, 8 GB of RAM, a 256 GB SSD and a 14-inch WUXGA screen in the ThinkPad line, known for keyboards and durability. Key takeaway: a step up in build quality from typical budget laptops, with the same storage trade-off.

Is 8 GB of RAM Enough?

For web browsing, email, office documents, streaming and video calls, 8 GB works well today. It starts to feel tight if you keep dozens of browser tabs open, run several apps at once, or plan to keep the laptop for five years or more, because software tends to use more memory over time. Memory prices have also been under pressure industry-wide, which is one reason entry-level models still ship with 8 GB. If you do heavier multitasking, consider a 16 GB model. As for storage, 512 GB is a comfortable amount for most people, while 256 GB suits those who rely on cloud storage or an external drive.
